Teenagers are getting more anxious and depressed because of the 24-hour demands of their social media accounts, researchers say. Those with higher levels of emotional investment in social media, and who use it at night, were more likely to feel depressed and anxious, they say.

Here’s a pretty good argument for taking some time to unplug from your social media accounts. A survey of teenagers found that those with the most emotional investment in their Facebook and Twitter profiles were more likely to sleep poorly and suffer from low self-esteem, anxiety and depression, according to the results of a survey presented Friday at a British Psychological Society conference.
